I read about Bokeh photography today and decided to give it a shot. The above picture is of my Christmas tree. Getting the picture was actually fairly challenging, the tree itself is very small so the camera had a hard time not seeing the entire tree through the Bokeh hood I made, also the tree has built in fiber optics which the camera always has trouble capturing. It also took me sometime to get my manual focus and zoom right to where the hearts actually show in the picture.
Honestly I thought my camera just wasn't capable of doing it since the website I read about Bokeh on was for DSLR cameras and I just have a nice Point and Shoot, but determination won out.
Below is a "failed picture".
This is the result of the camera seeing through the hood and not creating the dancing light effect. Although a failure of the Bokeh method, I still really like this picture.
I spent about fifteen minutes building the rudimentary hood with the cutout heart, and about an hour taking shots of my Christmas tree. I can't wait to find a Christmas light display and take some pictures of it with the Bokeh hood.
